ROB DIXON & THE INDIANAPOLIS JAZZ COLLECTIVE + STEFON HARRIS

ROB DIXON & THE INDIANAPOLIS JAZZ COLLECTIVE + STEFON HARRIS

at Indianapolis Museum of Art

Experience the Indianapolis sound as imagined through saxophonist Rob Dixon. A keeper of the torch, Dixon plays with a firm homage to jazz’ legacy while redefining its role through fiery soloing and thoughtful composing. Joining Dixon will be the virtuoso vibraphonist Stefon Harris.

The Los Angeles Times called Harris “one of the most important young artists in jazz” who is “at the forefront of new New York music” and “much in demand as a star sideman”. Harris has played with several jazz luminaries including Kenny Barron, Steve Turre, Kurt Elling, and Charlie Hunter, in addition to releasing several of his own critically well-regarded albums.

Also on the bill is vocalist Cynthia Layne, a powerful, soulful performer who is equally at home with neo-soul, R&B and jazz standards. Cynthia’s recent life changes have enabled her to reflect and retool her signature sound.
