Maestro Raymond Leppard and faculty artists will celebrate 20 years of the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center with Gustav Holst’s spirited St. Paul’s Suite for strings, J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 and excerpts from Handel’s 1725 masterpiece, Rodelinda. During a break with choral director Paul Krasnovsky, Leppard will discuss his distinguished career of 60 years. He then will lead UIndy’s choral ensembles and the Festival Orchestra in selections from Mozart’s Mass in C Major, K. 257.

One of the most respected international conductors of our time, Maestro Leppard has appeared with practically all the world’s leading orchestras in his six decades on the podium. He has conducted more than 170 recordings, earning five Grammy awards, a Grand Prix Mondial du Disque, a Deutsche Schallplattenpreis, and an Edison Prize. Recent travels have taken him to the orchestras of Warsaw, Budapest, Granada, the Scottish National Opera, Stuttgart Opera, Chicago Opera Theatre, the Manhattan and Juilliard Schools, the Colorado Symphony, and the La Jolla Music Society in California.

The concert kicks off the 2014-2015 season of UIndy's Faculty Artist Concert Series, 18 Monday night concerts open to the public free of charge. This year's arts season celebrates the 20th anniversary of the opening of the university's Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center in 1994.
