TEDMEDLive2014 Simulcast

Presented by Herron School of Art and Design at Unknown

A global discussion at the frontier of medicine will include IUPUI as presentations on the opening day of TEDMEDLive2014: Unlocking Imagination are simulcast on campus. The free event will take place on September 10 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Anyone may attend.

Reacting to live content from Washington, D.C. and San Francisco, participants at IUPUI will be part of a collective of the brightest minds, linked through 2,900 affiliates in 125 countries. More than 100,000 people are expected to experience the simulcast and companion discussions, which will be facilitated locally by faculty members from the IU School of Nursing and Herron School of Art and Design.

While this remarkable live and virtual gathering focuses on health, the content will be of interest to a wide array of individuals in the fine arts, design, the humanities and the social sciences. Selected titles of the day’s 19 presenters offer an intriguing clue to the interconnectivity of these disciplines, ranging from “genomic bioethicist” to “counterintuitive comedian” and “social justice journalist” to “smart dermatologic cameraman.”

Professors Angie McNelis, Ph.D., R.N., A.N.E.F., and Julie Meek, Ph.D., R.N., from the IU School of Nursing, and Youngbok Hong, B.A., M.F.A., and Pamela Napier, B.A., M.F.A., from Herron School of Art and Design’s Visual Communication Design program, will lead the on-campus discussion.

The simulcast and discussion will take place in the President’s Room at University Tower. Full details are available at the School of Nursing Homepage. Attendees do not have to commit their entire day and can stop in as scheduling permits
