The Improvised Shakespeare Company comes to Marian University for a performance on Friday, September 26 and workshop on Saturday, September 27. These events are open to the public.
Based on one audience suggestion (a title for a play that has yet to be written) The Improvised Shakespeare Co. creates a fully improvised Shakespearean masterpiece right before your very eyes! Nothing is planned-out, rehearsed, or written. All of the dialogue is said for the first time, the characters are created as you watch, and if ever you’re wondering where the story is going…so are they! You’ve never seen the Bard like this before.
The Improvised Shakespeare Company, founded in 2005, has been performing its critically-acclaimed show to sold out audiences at the world famous iO Theater in Chicago for over nine years and continues to entertain audiences around the globe with its touring company. The ISC has been featured at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco, Bonnaroo in Tennessee, Piccolo Spoleto Fringe Festival, Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival, and the prestigious Just For Laughs festival in Montreal and Chicago. It has been named Chicago's best improv group by both the Chicago Reader and the Chicago Examiner and had received a New York Nightlife Award for “Best Comedic Performance by a Group". The ISC was recently honored by the Chicago Improv Foundation as its “Ensemble of the Year”.
