Prompting Poetry with Liz Whiteacre

Prompting Poetry with Liz Whiteacre

Presented by Indiana Writers Center at Unknown

Instructor: Liz Whiteacre
Date: Saturday, September 27
Time: 1:30-4:30 p.m.
Location: IWC
Cost: $57 nonmembers, $39 members, $33 student members/teacher members/senior members/military members

In this workshop, we will explore how poetry prompts can help us get started writing poetry, explore different ways to write poems, return to poetry after a “dry spell”—even help with revision. We will learn how to find and write prompts, how to respond to prompts, and how to use prompts to help us polish poems. Every class, new prompts- so if you’ve taken this class before, it will be entirely different.

Liz Whiteacre teaches creative writing at Ball State University. She was awarded an Inglis House Poetry Award in 2010. Her poems have appeared in Wordgathering, Disability Studies Quarterly, Disabled World, and other magazines; and her chapbook, Hit the Ground, is now available from Finishing Line Press.
