Wilderness to World Class City

Wilderness to World Class City

Presented by Spirit & Place Festival at Athenaeum Auditorium

Song, dance, historical photographs, and narration combine to tell the story of Indianapolis in this original Claude McNeal musical performed by high school students.

Celebrate the epic journey that made Indianapolis what it is today. The play is the product of a collaborative historical research partnership between author, Claude McNeal, and David Bodenhamer, Director of The Polis Center at IUPUI. The award-winning show first originated around the publication of the Encyclopedia of Indianapolis in 1994. This new version, emphasizes the passage of people, places, and events that shaped the city.

Presented by Herron High School, Claude McNeal Productions, Indiana Humanities, The Athenaeum Foundation, and Young Actors Theatre (YAT) with support from presenting sponsor American Senior Communities, community partner sponsor Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP, hospitality sponsor The Indianapolis Propylaeum and through a matching grant from Indiana Humanities in cooperation with the National Endowment for the Humanities.

This is 2014 Spirit & Place Festival event.
