Gallery Forty-Two is pleased to present LIBERATION, an exhibition of recent works by international master artist Boban Ilic. The show (April 3 -18) opens on Friday, April 3rd with a public artist’s reception from 6-9 p.m.Enjoy drinks, hors d’oeuvres, live jazz and an opportunity to meet the artist!
Movement, balance and the dynamic exchange of energy are key elements in Boban’s sculptures. His nearly free-floating figures, comprised primarily of stainless steel flatware, seem to challenge the natural force of gravity. Boban’s artwork celebrates the power and creativity of humanity by infusing life and fluidity into the otherwise inert, solid nature of steel.
Boban’s dream-like paintings present a world of dramatic composition, often portraying conflicting figures and emotions. His sensual expressions transcend reality yet maintain a connection to the passion and power of the Renaissance spirit.
Born in Nis, Yugoslavia, Boban moved to the United States in 1991 seeking artistic liberty and opportunity. Since transitioning to the U.S., the artist has become well-known for his unique medium in sculpture as well as modern approach to classical themes and subject matter.
