Meet & Greet Local Artist,  Kenneth L. Wakeman
Wakeman is a Herron Graduate with a major in furniture.  However, later in school he spent most of his time painting in oil.  He felt a sense of more freedom working in oil & was inspired by the French Post Impressionists in the latter part of the 19th Century.  Wakeman feels his studies of Cézanne & Van Gogh showed him what a real artist was all about.  Ken’s paintings are abstract & figurative, while using light & color to shape & create a serene sense of atmosphere.  His goal is to allow the viewer to remember a time or place that evokes thoughts & memories from their own lives.  This allows Wakeman the enjoyment to place color with a brush onto a canvas.
