Glass beads and dolls have been around for some 2000 and more years. Two Hoosier artists have crafted their versions using today’s techniques and material. With thirteen years experience lampworking over an open flame, Camile Richard creates beads that make her jewelry stunning. Glass rods and precious metals are melted, shaped by gravity and finally annealed in a kiln. Inspired by the findings in an inherited sewing basket Ann Mills uses these to fashion spirit dolls also using wood, soft sculpture or clay. Her art dolls with their whimsical and expressive features generate both wonder and delight. Opening reception Friday, October 2, 6-9 p.m.
