Holiday Teas at Morris-Butler House

Presented by Indiana Landmarks at Morris-Butler House Museum

Experience Christmas past at Morris-Butler House with a holiday-themed tea. The Morris-Butler House, a nineteenth-century home with a tower, invites visitors to tea. Afternoon teas on December 5 and 12 feature Victorian holiday traditions and décor paired with a three-course traditional afternoon tea, with seatings at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Tina Jesson of Tina’s Traditional Old English Kitchen in Carmel will share the heritage of the traditional tea menu and offer tips on tea etiquette in the historic Morris-Butler House in the Old Northside neighborhood.

The menu includes cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches and Coronation Chicken Salad tea sandwiches—a recipe created for Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953. Other highlights include cranberry-and-orange scones with homemade raspberry jam and Devonshire clotted cream, Duchess of Rutland’s Rich Chocolate Torte Bites, and shortbread. The recipe for the Victoria sandwich fairy cakes with raspberry jam and raspberry icing dates back to the 1800s. The service includes traditional English breakfast tea and ginger echinacea herbal tea.
