We Were Created To Look At One Another, Weren't We

Presented by Marian University at Marian University Michael A. Evans Center for Health Sciences

Indianapolis, INDIANA– We Were Created to Look at One Another, Weren’t We features the drawing and painting of Jim Gerard and will be on display in the Marian University Art Gallery in the Michael A. Evans Center for Health Sciences from August 21-December 18, 2015.  A reception of the exhibit will be held on Wednesday, November 18 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.

Gerard’s greatest inspiration comes from working with people as the subjects of his drawing and painting.  He passionately explains, “I really don’t believe that there is any subject matter or manner of making art that has more power or more meaning than one that takes a deep look at humanity and then gives it back to us with its beauty and sorrow honestly exposed.”  The exhibit contains works created over the last twenty years, which convey the beauty Gerard finds in each person and the connection that he as the artist makes with each of his models.

Jim Gerard works in his studio in the Stutz Building in downtown Indianapolis where he also teaches classes to those interested in creating art from the live model.   Visit his studio’s website at http://gerardstudio.zenfolio.com/ for more information.

The Marian University Art Gallery is located on the north end of the second floor of the Michael A. Evans Center for Health Sciences.  Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays, although appointments at later times are welcome.  Please contact Gallery Director Jenny Ambroise at jambroise@marian.edu with any inquiries.
