About Jessamyn Anderson
Jessamyn Anderson, soprano and Carmel, IN native, recently graduated cum laude from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with a B.M. in vocal performance. Her IU Opera Theater credits include Nellie Forbush in South Pacific, Cousin Hebe in H.M.S. Pinafore, and Margot in The Merry Widow. Also at IU, she played the title role in Iolanthe, the first show produced by the University Gilbert & Sullivan Society and premiered the role of Mooch in Mooch the Magnificent, a children’s opera written for Re-Imagining Opera for Kids. During the summer of 2015, Jessamyn was a young artist with Ohio Light Opera Company, where she portrayed Claudine in Can-Can, Constance in Oh, Kay!, and Babbie in Friederike. As a studio artist at Opera in the Ozarks, Jessamyn played the Fairy Godmother and an ugly stepsister in an outreach, mash-up opera production of Cinderella as well as Isabel in the mainstage production of Pirates of Penzance. Other favorite roles include Mrs. Dolly Levi in Hello, Dolly!, Aunt Eller in Oklahoma!, and Judy Wentworth in I Married an Angel, a role that earned her Indianapolis Encore Award nominations for Best Female Vocalist and Best Supporting Actress. She is thrilled to return as a soloist with the IWS this season!
