Local professionals will join University of Indianapolis music students and faculty in a 20-piece band to present this seldom-performed adaptation of a holiday classic, Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker Suite,” as reimagined for jazz orchestra by legendary bandleader Duke Ellington and his longtime collaborator Billy Strayhorn. Strayhorn’s nephew Larry Strayhorn will emcee the event, which celebrates the 100th anniversary of Billy Strayhorn’s birth.
Admission: $15 general; $5 for seniors and college students with ID; free for ages 18 and younger
