Indianapolis-based New World Youth Orchestras was founded in 1982, and members are high school age and younger. The 180+ musicians, come from across the state, and the orchestras holds annual contests to find new talent in Indiana.
Every year, students from across the state compete for prizes and solo appearances with the orchestra as part of two different concerto competitions.
New World ranks as one of the largest and finest youth symphony programs in the United States of America. Performances are held at the Hilbert Circle Theatre, home of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Bold programming reflects quality musicianship and includes works by Bach, Bartok, Beethoven and contemporary composers.
