The Indiana Wind Symphony presents "Images of Japan"

Presented by Indiana Wind Symphony at Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts

The Land of the Rising Sun, its beauty, culture, and people have served to inspire a number of composers. The Indiana Wind Symphony brings some of these aural impressions of Japan to life on the stage of the Palladium with works by Holst, Gilbert and Sullivan, and others.

Additionally, 2016 begins the Wind Symphony’s celebration of the bicentennial of Indiana’s statehood.  The IWS will perform an Indiana-related work on each concert in 2016.  Hale A. Vandercook wrote the march Indiana Folks while he was the Bandmaster of La Pearl’s Circus in the 1890s. La Pearl’s winter quarters were in Crawfordsville, IN. He gained the most fame as a music educator, and the Vandercook College of Music in Chicago was his most important contribution in that field.
