Speedway Neighborhood Tour

Presented by Indiana Landmarks at Speedway Neighborhood Tour

Each Thursday in May, Indiana Landmarks will stage an entertaining walking tour, turning the spotlight on a different historic Indianapolis neighborhood. The tours begin with an exploration of Old Speedway on May 5, as the track and the town gear up to celebrate the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500. The historic neighborhood—bounded by 10th and 16th streets, Winton Avenue, and Main Street—features a unique blend of industrial, commercial, and residential sites.

The 90-minute tours involve a one- to one-and-a-half-mile walk led by residents of the neighborhood with Indiana Landmarks docents. Guides will tell the history of each area and its revitalization. You’ll see the range in house styles, get the scoop on average sale prices, and see the interior of one or more buildings. Indiana Landmarks presents the tours with Historic Urban Neighborhoods of Indianapolis and the neighborhood associations in each area.
