Harrison Center for the Arts Community Porch Party

at Harrison Center for the Arts

The Harrison Center for the Arts joins with the 100th Running Host Committee, inviting Hoosiers to celebrate the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil. The kickoff will take place on the “porch” of the Harrison Center’s City Gallery during the May 6 First Fridayevent from 6 to 10pm. Attendees will enjoy live music by Ray Wyatt and Jay Elliott, food trucks, vintage race cars, appearances by local celebrities and even a 500-themed art scavenger hunt.

Across the street at the Meredith Nicholson House, Indiana Humanities will host a poetry reading in honor of the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing”. The Official Poet of the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 and members of the “field of 33” honorable mention poets will read aloud their award-winning poems in celebration of the Month of May. The event will take place from 6:30 – 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Attendees will enjoy appetizers, libations and a look at pieces from the Arts Council of Indianapolis’ “Welcome Race Fans” exhibit.
