“A lovely dark Polynesian man with long black hair and wonderful muscles jumped into the pool and disappeared into the waterfall. I watch as if in a dream as he goes in and out of the falling water. He seemed to be performing some kind of purification ritual because as quickly as he jumped in, he was out again, shook off the water and walked on. . I am not that inspired to purify myself but inspired, nevertheless, to paint this man of nature.”
