Are you a writer who also likes the visual arts? Or do you like visual arts and have an interest in writing? If so, haiga might be the perfect form for you! Haiga is a Japanese form that combines haiku and visual art. Ancient Japanese masters often complemented their brush paintings with haiku, and their haiku with brush paintings. This eventually came to be known as haiga. While brush painting is still a familiar method used in modern haiga, today many artistic forms are utilized, such as sketches, watercolor, mixed media, photography, and computer graphics.
