Actors Theatre of Indiana presents a staged reading of a new musical

Featuring OVER 30 Hoagy Carmichael songs, Hoagy On My Mind tells the story of Eli and Jack, two high school seniors who are visiting Indiana University to audition for the Jacobs School of Music in the Jazz Studies program.

As the boys hang out in the garden with the life-size statue of the great American songwriter Hoagy Carmichael, Hoagy’s restless spirit begins to help them rehearse his own songs they’re going to perform for their auditions—over the protests of their parents.

The boys welcome Hoagy’s advice, and value his wisdom and mentorship, as he tries to impart a lifetime of experience in the music business in the short time they spend together. If only their parents would stop interfering.

All Hoagy wants is to help the boys achieve their dreams…
