Scott Hocking Exhibition

Scott Hocking Exhibition

Presented by Big Car at Tube Factory artspace

August 5-October 15

“I am interested in forgotten places and things kept out of sight,” says Hocking. “I don’t know if this is because I’m from Detroit, a city that has become known for urban prairies and empty factories; but I try to work the same way no matter where I am. I explore my surroundings – gathering images and materials to create sculptural installations and photography projects. Often site-specific, these projects are temporary, with a lot left up to chance.”

The Scott Hocking exhibit will feature a commissioned site specific installation, photographs and video.

His artwork has been exhibited internationally, including the Detroit Institute of Arts, Cranbrook Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, the University of Michigan, the Smart Museum of Art, the School of the Art Institute Chicago, Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Museum, the Mattress Factory Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Kunst-Werke Institute, the Van Abbemuseum, and Kunsthalle Wien. He was recently awarded a Kresge Artist Fellowship, and is represented by Susanne Hilberry Gallery.
