Fresh-picked Greens: Paintings from Your Neighbor’s Garden

Fresh-picked Greens: Paintings from Your Neighbor’s Garden

at Bona Thompson Memorial Center

Exhibit of original cut-paper watercolors by Elizabeth Seagull Heeter

Elizabeth Seagull Heeter creates windows to nature by overlaying the flow of a watercolor with cut paper silhouettes.  From June 19thto August 7th, the Bona Thompson Memorial Center is pleased to offer an exhibit of her work.  The exhibit is titled Fresh-picked Greens: Paintings from Your Neighbor’s Garden and reveals the artist’s poetic and playful depiction of local themes.  Elizabeth says, “The act of cutting paper transforms my drawings into layers of expression. The first layer, bold and delicate paper silhouettes, invites you to immerse yourself in the underlayer: a luminous, atmospheric watercolor painting; fresh and familiar habitats for you to enter and explore.”

She began her love of art in college and describes it as her “primary language”. Whether the subject is bird, butterfly or street scene, Elizabeth brings a vibrant design of color and light.  Our show will feature a wide selection of her work:  watercolors, table top lanterns, cut paper works and the memorable “vampire squirrel”.  All work is offered for purchase.

Elizabeth S. Heeter is an Irvington resident who exhibits regularly in summer art fair circuit.  She was a 2016 Artist-in-Residence at T.C.Steele State Historic Site and 2015 Artist-in-Residence at the Indiana State Museum. Through her website, elizabethseagullheeter.com, she also offers original cut-paper paintings, ready-to-frame prints, friendly greeting cards and custom artwork.
