Dance Discovery Series: Hawaiian

Presented by Center for the Performing Arts at The Tarkington at the Center for the Performing Arts

Beautiful fluid movements that represent swaying palm trees, an ocean wave, or feelings and emotions characterize the ancient dance form of Hula.  As a visual art form, Hula tells a story and dramatizes the words of each mele (song).

During this Dance Discovery session, we’ll learn about the culture of Hawaii and the history of Hula. Participants will learn basic steps and hand movements of this beautiful and unique style of dance.

No partner or previous dancing experience necessary to register.

Suggested for ages 12 through adult.

Appropriate Attire: Clothing that is comfortable to move in and barefoot.
