Haunting the Aisles: The Ghost of Fowler Theatre told by Stephanie Holman

Haunting the Aisles: The Ghost of Fowler Theatre told by Stephanie Holman

Presented by Storytelling Arts of Indiana and Indiana Landmarks at Indiana Landmarks Center

Join storyteller Stephanie Holman for the premiere of Haunting the Aisles for the If These Walls Could Tell series in collaboration with Indiana Landmarks. The depression era dram of Dick Vlastos was to build a beautiful, state of the art movie theatre in Fowler Indiana. In 1940 his dream was realized and opening night he showed the film “His Girl Friday” in the theatre’s carefully planned splendor.

But time would wigh heavy on his dream and over the years, Fowler Theatre’s shine began to dim. Six decades after opening night, a mighty band of locals called the Prairie Preservation Guild would gather to restore her brilliance. As the work progressed, a ghost was seen by many and all agree it is Dick Vlastos. He walks the aisles, as watchful as he was in life, observing those who restore his theatre.

In 2016 Indiana Landmarks deems the work of the Prairie Preservation Guild on Fowler Theatre worth of the Cook Cup for Outstanding Restoration. But can the work of the Guild please a ghost? Join us for the story of Dick Vlastos, his dream and those who work to keep the light shining at Fowler Theatre.
