Art & Soul: Tiffany Marie Parker, featured Visual Artist

Art & Soul: Tiffany Marie Parker, featured Visual Artist

Presented by Indy Arts Council at Indianapolis Artsgarden

Exhibition of selected works on view January 28 – February 28

Tiffany Marie Parker lives and works in Indianapolis. A recent graduate of Herron School of Art and Design, she paints, draws, and sculpts abstracted figures and objects that embody a truly modern and specifically American Black cultural life. Through her studies at Herron she has developed a sophisticated gestural technique that allows her to reference past artistic styles and movements while focusing on current black culture through the lens of topics such as labor, race, and gender. As a Featured Artist for Art & Soul 2017, Parker’s work will represent personal depictions of her life in the past and present. It is her hope that the audience will see themselves or their families in her paintings.

Art & Soul, an annual celebration of African American art and artists in Indiana, features a diverse lineup of music, storytelling, dance, and visual art. The Arts Council of Indianapolis is pleased to partner with Asante Children’s Theatre, Indy Jazz Fest, Kenyettá Dance Company, and Madame Walker Theatre Center to present Art & Soul: A Celebration of African American Art & Artists in Indiana at the Indianapolis Artsgarden.

Art & Soul is hosted by the Arts Council of Indianapolis with generous support from Lilly Endowment Inc. For more information, visit indyarts.org. #ArtSoul
