Openness and curiosity particularly characterize the musical thought of Pierre Bibault, multifaceted French guitarist, soloist and chamber musician as talented on classical guitar as on electric guitar. Pioneer and dedicatee of new repertoires, transcriber, he explores all the musics from the Renaissance to nowadays.

Pierre Bibault was born in 1979 in Paris and began studying music with the piano at the age of 7, before discovering the electric guitar and then the classical guitar. In a few years, he obtained a Diploma of Performance at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, a First Prize at the Conservatoire d’Argenteuil, an MA in Musicology at the Sorbonne University (Paris), an MA in Instrumental Performance at the High School of Music Maastricht (Netherlands), an MA in Performance and Pedagogy at the Royal Conservatory of Liège (Belgium), and five International Competitions Prizes (France, Italy, Poland). In 2014, he began a PhD in Arts in Instrumental Performance at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, which allows him to formalize a thorough reflection on the (micro)Gesture of the Performer and the Development of Techniques in the Guitar(s) Works from the 20th and 21st Centuries.

Pierre Bibault performs around forty concerts a year and has performed in over twenty countries, from Europe to the United States, to Asia, Canada, North Africa and Eastern Countries. He was invited by numerous and prestigious venues such as the Philharmony Halls of Paris, Brussels, Liege (BE), Lviv, Khmelnitskie (Ukraine), the St George’s Church Bloomsbury in London, the Art and Culture Center in Bangkok, the Cathedral and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Liège, the Tyska Kyrkan in Stockholm, the Bon-Pasteur Chapel of Quebec, the Kouvoutsakis Art Institute in Athens, the Universities of Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Houston (USA), or the Cirque Royal and Flagey – Maison de la Radio in Brussels.

Chamber music occupies a prominent place in his career, since he plays in all types of formations: with cello, flute, violin, voice, chamber orchestra, symphony orchestra, the contemporary ensemble teRRitoiRes contempoR1.0. From 2006 to 2016, he has played with the Duo Resonances, recognized as one of the most active guitar duos, and with which he has recorded a CD acclaimed by the critics, for the Label Calliope Records: album of the week on iTunes, February 2014; Jun-Tokusen (Music Award in Japan), june 2015; “a first-rate album” – ThisIsClassicalGuitar.

In 2015, Pierre Bibault premieres at the Philharmonie de Paris the “Symphony No. 16, Orgasm” for 100 electric guitars by Glenn Branca. He also participates to the musical hit production of Ars Lyrica “Fiddler on the Roof”, where he holds the guitar part in the orchestra. The Director Patrick Leterme renews their collaboration for interpreting “Brundibar” by Hans Krasa, given in Krakow as part of the Commemorations of the Liberation of Auschwitz in Poland, initiated by The Train of 1000 and supported by the European Commission.

In 2015, he resumes his solo career around a repertoire of contemporary works, combining classical and electric guitars, live electronics and sampler. He is signed by Dan McDaniel LLC, one of the most renowned American artists’ agents for the guitar, and by ZeD Classics for his first solo record.

He is an adviser and co-manager of the Paris Guitar Foundation since its inception in 2014. The company specializes in medias, reports, and concerts organization, notably in support for the freedom of expression and to the French foundation Reporters Sans Frontières, following the tragic events in Paris in January 2015.

Since 2002, pedagogy is also part of the musical life of Pierre Bibault. He is a Teacher-Researcher at the Brussels Royal Conservatory and a Professor and Artistic Coordinator at the Conservatoire de Sèvres – Grand Paris. He gives Masterclasses and Lectures in France and abroad several times a year (Universities – notably American, Festivals, Summer Academies, Conservatories, Cultural Institutions).
