The March Prop Day program will feature Sarah M. Halter, Executive Director of the Indiana Medical History Museum. She plans to share tales and tidbits from the museum located on the grounds of the former Central State Hospital grounds on Indianapolis’ Westside.
Halter earned a B.A. in anthropology and philosophy from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis in 2005 and an M.A. in museum studies also from IUPUI, in 2008. She has worked in collections management at the Indiana State Museum and was director of public programs at the Indiana Medical History Museum before being promoted in 2014. Halter also is vice president of the League of Women Voters of Indianapolis, secretary of the Southern Association for the History of Science and Medicine and immediate past president of the Hoosier Chapter of the Victorian Society in America. She serves on the board of directors of the Association of Indiana Museums and Youth Enhancement & Training Initiative, whose primary mission is to fully fund an orphanage in Nepal that it established in 2005.
