That's What She Said by Bonnie Fillenwarth

Presented by Bonnie Fillenwarth at Kickstarter

That’s what she said – a project by Bonnie Fillenwarth
Who is she and what did she say?  I would like to create a series of art quotes from women throughout history.

Did you know that one of the most famous phrases from American culture,”Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”, was written by a woman named Emma Lazarus.

I am a visual artist who creates artwork celebrating the amazing  accomplishments of women throughout history.  In my research I have come across inspirational words from these women and I would like to share them with you, your daughters, sisters, nieces, granddaughters, and anyone who needs to hear that they are ” valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.”(HRC)

Some of these pieces I may create by hand on paper though watercolor and ink, or perhaps calligraphy.  Some I may design on the computer. Either way, I will need to make quality prints.

Some of the quotes I am currently working on:
“Remember the ladies…If particular care and attention is not paid to the Ladies we are determined to foment a Rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any Laws in which we have no voice, or Representation.” Abigail Adams
“Eventually, the woman of the future will have equal rights as well as equal duties. She will have a new self-awareness and will find her true strength in an emancipated maternity. Family life as we know it may change, but it is absurd to think that feminism will destroy maternal feelings. The new woman will marry and have children out of choice, not because matrimony and maternity are imposed on her, and she will exercise control over the health and well being of the next generation and inaugurate a reign of peace, because when she can speak knowledgeably in the name of her children and in behalf of her own rights man will have to listen to her.” Maria Montessori

I am currently looking into Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Margaret Thatcher, and Shirley Chisholm.  I am also working on a piece inspired by the renect Women’s Marches throughout the world. If you have a woman, or quote to suggest, please send it my way.
In order to do this I will need to get a printer capable of producing both high quality prints and larger prints.  The printer I have my eye on will allow me to make prints up to 13×19.  With a printer of my own I can control not only the quality but also the coloring of these prints. I will also be able to get some great quality paper to print onto.

In exchange for your support (thank you in advance) I have several options of rewards. By the end of my Kickstarter campaign I should have at least 5 diffrent art quotes for you to choose from. If you would like to send your rewards to someone as a gift, let me know.

Add an extra $10 to any level for each additional 8×10 print and $20 additional for an extra 11×14 print.

If you are not in the continental U.S. please contact me for a shipping quote.

Stretch Goal

I will need some more ink for this fancy printer.  If we reach $550, everyone who pledged $5 or more will also receive a package of my women throughout history postcards.  They are perfect to send through the mail, frame, or just hang out on your desk.

Women’s History Postcards
Thank you so much for your support everyone.

Risks and challenges
It’s Kickstarter, it’s all or nothing. Without your help I will not be able to make these prints. If I were to create these and send them to a printer the cost would be too high to make any profit. They would also not be color corrected.
