The Intolerable Space Between

The Intolerable Space Between

Presented by Healing Arts Indy at Healing Arts Indy

Healing Arts Indy presents: The Intolerable Space Between, an exhibit of paintings by artist, Johnny McKee. An ongoing theme with McKee’s work is the search for what is beyond our physical and present self. What happens to us after death? His interpretation of this question doesn’t have or promote answers as much as it evokes the question itself. Looking at the sky, trying to look beyond, is a way for the artist to contemplate mortality. It is a way to meditate, to shut out peripheral noise, and to think about his place in the world. It is also a time to communicate, to pray, to be with loved ones who have passed on. The clouds and the weather are also strong personal symbols for McKee that represent very direct responses to individual losses. The weather and atmosphere is uncertain and fickle, this is how McKee feels when he thinks and questions where the soul of a human would go after death.
Exhibit on display March 8-April 28, 2017.
