Earth Friendly Festival & Summer Reading Kickoff at Garfield Park

Families and children of all ages are invited for a fun-filled day of activities celebrating conservation and the kickoff of the Library’s Summer Reading Program. Learn how to make a rain barrel during workshops presented at 10:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m. Learn about electric cars with Blue Indy and visit with a representative from Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. The Silly Safaris Animal Show will presented at 10:30 a.m. From 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., visit the Wagon of Wonders, Big Car Collaborative’s mobile, interactive art unit and pop-up public space. From 1 to 3:30 p.m., visit the WonderLab: The Museum of Science, Health and Technology to see five bubbly stations, explore bubbles, make a bubble wand, and create one-of-a-kind ghost bubbles. This program is made possible by The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation and gifts from Covanta. Registration for the rain barrel workshops is required by calling the branch at 317-275-4490. Two participants per rain barrel. Each workshop is limited to 12 rain barrels.
