Join Arts for Learning for a two-hour professional development workshop on the relationship between cognitive and emotional development in children; the impact of stress and adversity on a child’s ability to learn, remember, and make appropriate decisions; and ways to boost students’ brain health and knowledge acquisition.

Dr. Lori Desautels will lead a lively and provocative discussion on how brain science can have a direct impact on student learning and performance. She will share how to apply brain-aligned strategies and activities in the classroom and empower educators to address the emotional and social challenges of a child’s well-being.

About the Speaker: Dr. Lori Desautels is an assistant professor at Butler University in Indianapolis. Her experience working with children and adolescents with emotional challenges includes positions as an upper elementary school counselor and as a private practice counselor and co-owner of the Indianapolis Counseling Center. Dr. Desautels previously served as a behavioral consultant in adolescent psychiatry for Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital. She writes about and travels internationally lecturing on how to engage students through neuroscience in education.
