Visitors can learn “illimat” a board game inspired by a prop created for The Decemberists, an indie Rock band. This is being held in conjunction with GenCon.
Join iMOCA, Twogether Studios and Cat Head Press for a special Illimat playing party. Check out the Level Up exhibition, meet a few of the artists and get an early chance to play Illimat, a game presented by Indie rock band, The Decemberists, which features artwork by Carson Ellis. Ellis is illustrator for the Decemberists band and the children’s books — The Mysterious Benedict Society series and The Composer Is Dead, written by Lemony Snicket. A special silkscreened Carson Ellis poster will be for sale at the event with a portion of the proceeds benefiting iMOCA.
This event and the exhibition are presented and sponsored by Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art (iMOCA), Twogether Studio and Cat Head Press.
iMOCA celebrates Gen Con with pop up exhibition, Level Up: Art Inspired by Gaming Culture, August 4th to 26th at the Middle Space Gallery at Cat Head Press. The world of card and board games, sci-fi and pop culture icons like Star Wars are explored by artists: Erin Drew, Gabriel Dishaw, Austin Falls, Mab Graves, Jason Lahr and Jason S. Cavan Deathbot Manufacturing. The exhibition features original artwork by Carson Ellis, known for her children’s book illustrations and artwork for the band, The Decemberists.
