The Academy is the advanced program for youth who are serious about their craft as performers. The program is comprised of youth, ages 12 to 18 and adult mentor actors.   Academy members meet a minimum of three (3) times a week to hone their skills in acting, dance, singing and storytelling.

ACT4Adults, a subsidiary of The Asante Children’s Theatre for male and female actors over the age of 18+, HS grad or equivalent, who are interested in continuing their careers while also mentoring youth in the arts.

This Winter session will prepare for the annual ACT Holiday Concert. This year’s show will be: Gonna Have A Funky Good Christmas “A Tribute to Funk Music.”

Interested participants must AUDITION with a prepared 1 to 2-minute monologue, dance routine and song sung acapella. No profanity.

If accepted, there are no participation fees. The participants will be required to commit and honor the training, rehearsal and performance schedule.

Adult members must complete a volunteer application and pass a background check.

In addition to our ACT program staff, we will welcome representatives, from the University of Louisville African-American Theatre Department and The Blues Kid Foundation of Chicago, who will join our audition judging panel.
