Local Clay Potters’ Guild 20th Anniversary Show and Sale

Local Clay Potters’ Guild 20th Anniversary Show and Sale

at Unknown

Known for inventive and diverse clay work, Local Clay’s 23 professional artists set up a show and sale that invites responsiveness. Years of working together and individually as studio potters and sculptors, members and guest artist, Tim Compton of Indianapolis, will be displaying over 4000 functional and free standing or wall mounted works of art. Although each artist uses basically the same materials, stoneware or porcelain clay and mixtures of glaze minerals, the results vary in size, form, texture, and color. Each piece is unique due to creative choices, especially the firing process that includes testing, retesting, disappointing failures and happy surprises.
The show and sale is set up with several areas. The Potters’ Choice features the work of each potter that includes several signature pieces along with a photo and bio to help identify individual styles. The Sculpture Gallery showcases high-end exclusive pieces. Most of the work is displayed mixed together throughout the Great Room. Large stand-alone racks easily display hundreds of individual mugs that are very personal to keep or to be given as gifts.
Potters will demonstrate throwing clay on the wheel throughout the day on Saturday and there will be a mineral exhibit of raw materials potters use for making pots and mixing glazes.
Meet the potters, enjoy refreshments at the opening reception Friday evening, and experience a beloved community event.
It’s a perfect opportunity to find gifts for holidays and special occasions.
