Dr. Matt’s Masterpieces of Scientific Method

Presented by Full Circle Nine Gallery at Full Circle Nine Gallery

“Dr. Matt’s Masterpieces of Scientific Method,” by Matt Hall, will be featured for the March First Friday Art Tour, on Friday, March 2nd, at the Full Circle Nine Gallery. The show will premiere 6-9pm, and admission is free.

“My show is the fusion of art and science, the juxtaposition of the antiquated and the latest cutting-edge concepts in theoretical physics, within the context of Dada,” said Hall. “Essentially, it is a mad scientist (Dr. Matt) who believes, through the scientific method and the principles of aesthetics, that he has perfected a method of producing masterpieces that render all other art obsolete, and only necessary in terms of their historical significance, leaving his audience with many questions about his claims.” Hall’s work portrays this story in raw and direct stylings with an ‘outsider folk punk’ flare.

Matt Hall, with his BFA from Herron, and MA from UIndy, proudly states that he’s an Indy artist, ‘inside and out.’ “It is important to me to maintain a sense of local. I didn’t run to Portland or New York to catch the next wave, I want to be a part of the blooming scene here, and stay here for life.”

He says his work most closely fits into the genre of Neo Dada, using assemblage and collage to explore scientific and historical concepts, while expressing the story of his oftentimes irreverent and sarcastic character, “Dr. Matt.” “As an aesthetic engineer, I have a responsibility to society to introduce them to the experience of beauty and truth, although many of my methods are still classified information,” said “Dr. Matt, who hopes that visitors will take away a satisfying sense of being entertained and informed, by having seen “the most important art in history.” Hall will also have a Geiger counter on hand to perform free “radiation checks,” during the First Friday premiere.
