When is the last time you were told you could touch an art exhibit? That’s exactly what you can do at reVISION. Join us for a truly unique art exhibition that was curated for the blind and visually impaired (and sighted peers). Come touch the art!
VIPS Indiana is proud to bring back reVISION, an art exhibition specifically curated for individuals with blindness/low vision. This is the third year VIPS is hosting the exhibition at the Indiana Interchurch Center Art Gallery in Indianapolis. The art on display can be touched and explored–and some of the art may have an auditory or olfactory component as well. The artist descriptions will be in braille and large print, and artist recordings will be available through QR codes. The art on display will be available for purchase and the artists have graciously agreed to donate 50% of their proceeds back to VIPS Indiana for the children and families we serve. We are beyond thrilled that the student artists from the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired will be participating once again this year. The students keep all of their sale money so come buy cool art of theirs!
reVISION is more than an art exhibition—it is a service to the community. Our goal is to create inclusiveness in the arts. A place where patrons who are blind can just be art patrons. Sleep shades will be available for sighted patrons so they have a chance to experience art through their other senses. We hope to spark a dialogue about creating more inclusive opportunities in cultural art organizations for individuals who are blind or visually impaired, as well as raise critical funds and awareness for VIPS Indiana.
Join us for the opening of reVISION as it will be an exciting evening with wine, hors-d’oeuvres from Love Handle, a special guest musical performance by James Michaels and Matt Edwards from Bosma Enterprises for the Blind, and exceptional art!
reVISION is sponsored by the Christel DeHaan Family Foundation, the Indianapolis Washington Township Lions Club, and the Delta Gamma Theta Chapter.
The exhibition will be open Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm or Saturday by appointment only. It will run until April 27, 2018. Please contact Meredith Howell at (888) 824-2197 or mhowell@vips.org if you’d like to book a tour. This is a free event.
