Hendricks Symphony Presents 'Music for Lent'

Presented by Hendricks Symphonic Society at Avon United Methodist Church

Music for Lent

The Hendricks Symphony Chorus, under the direction of Benjamin G. Del Vecchio, will present a free concert, Music for Lent at Avon United Methodist Church (6850 E. U.S. Hwy. 36, Avon) on Sunday, March 11 at 3 p.m. This concert will begin with two pieces by Edward Elgar, his “Ave Verum Corpus” and the beautiful and haunting “The Snow.” These will be followed by Heinrich Schutz’s “The Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ – According to the Gospel of St. John.” Schutz wrote this beautiful liturgical piece for Good Friday around 1665. “The Passion” will be narrated by Brad Ward. Other concert highlights include Rossini’s “Prayer of Moses,” Verdi’s “Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves,” and a beautiful and jazzy version of “Amazing Grace.” Come to Avon United Methodist Church for a beautiful afternoon of Lenten music.
