The Full Circle Nine Gallery (FC9) is proud to announce Andrew Koeling, and his show, “Transcendence” as the featured artist for the April First Friday Art Tour, on Friday, April 6th. T
“The story isn’t something that is conveyed by any individual piece—the idea of living beyond yourself, of expanding your world view, of realizing that we as human beings are more than just flesh and blood, sex, race, or religion,” explained Koeling, an abstract epoxy artist. “It’s recognizing that we are far more the same than different—that is the premise of transcending the moment.”
Andrew Koeling has been fine-tuning his multi-layered epoxy technique over the last six years, and has displayed his work in various shows around the Midwest. Primarily abstract in nature, he uses acrylics, inks, and other liquids to create designs in epoxy resin that seem to change from any angle, sometimes resembling fibrous tissue, sometimes wistful dreams, with each piece appearing liquid and frozen at the same time.
“It’s a paradox, which is why I’ve embraced this style of art over the past few years,” admits Koeling. “Art isn’t just about aesthetics, but it’s about the message that gets conveyed.”
“The idea of transcendence is to exist in a place that is beyond the physical. It’s meant as a destination in which someone is living beyond themselves, and recognizing we live in a world that is beyond ourselves,” said Koeling.
The Full Circle Nine Gallery operates as an artist cooperative gallery, with each of the member artists and the board dividing gallery duties and artists roles.
