Clay sculptor Andrew Perry Davis looks for the absurd in the everyday. Inspired by his rst job working in a ea market, his favorite ea market nds were ones that de ed quick or easy interpretation. Artifacts and antique toys inspire many of the forms he sculpts in his art practice. Alongside ceramic vessels that reference an unusual mix of time periods and cultures, you will nd more intimate sculptures that reference a more recent past in the form of well-worn plush dolls. Traveling through this alternate history you will nd statues of animal gods, commemorative vessels, and petri ed carnival prizes blending the familiar with the historical. Elements that at rst seem to be contradictory are a prompt for the viewer to play with their own references and interpretations.
