Sculptor Gino Miles: Master of Metal

Sculptor Gino Miles: Master of Metal

Presented by Long-Sharp Gallery at Long-Sharp Gallery

A solo exhibit of works by master sculptor Gino Miles opens at Long-Sharp Gallery Indianapolis on Friday, April 6, and runs through Saturday, June 2.  Miles has been sculpting for over 45 years.  Despite the fact that he was classically trained in Italy, was co-founder of Italart (a sculpture school in Italy), and lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico, he has some surprising ties to Indiana.

Although Miles’ first solo museum exhibition ended in January 2018 at Florida’s Polk Museum of Art, one of his earliest works is in the permanent collection of the Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science.

Miles studied with several prominent sculptors in his early years.  Among other notable sculptors, he studied under Allan Houser, who created “Morning Prayer”, the sculpture in front of the Eiteljorg Museum in downtown Indianapolis.

Some of Miles’ largest figurative works are in the collection of Walt Disney (the Seven Dwarfs) and he is the creator of a national landmark (the Grape Crusher in Napa Valley, CA).  To date, Miles’ largest mobile sculpture is hanging in Noblesville (IN) after it was commissioned by the owners of Performance Marketing Group.

Miles’ sculptures may be found in private, public, and corporate collections worldwide. He has created new works for his solo exhibit, and will travel to Indianapolis for the opening! Please join us for the opening reception, sponsored by Conrad Indianapolis, on April 6th from 6:30-9:00pm.
