The Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art presents internationally exhibited artist to the CityWay Gallery at the Alexander Hotel.
Rachel Hayes, an internationally recognized artist, explores color theory. quilting, pattern making and modern design in her vibrantly colored textile panels that are created for outdoor and indoor room-size spaces. They create a intimate moment of personal space within the gallery.
She is currently showing at the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa and 108 Contemporary. She has been collaborating with Italian fashion house Missoni for a series of installations since 2017.
Hayes recently received the Joan Mitchell Foundation Award for Painters and Sculptors and has been a resident at the Marie Walsh Sharpe Space Program (NY) and the Art Omni International Artists’ Residency program (NY). She has been a fellow at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the Augustus Saint-Gardens Memorial Historical Site (NH). She and her husband are currently residents at the Tulsa Art Fellowship.
