Join the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library and our special guests for our ninth year of Night of Vonnegut and to support our year of programming theme “Lonesome No More”!
Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library (KVML) is celebrating the values and work of our favorite Indianapolis author at Night of Vonnegut on Thursday, April 12, at the Indiana Roof Ballroom from 6 pm to 9 pm. Not only is KVML honoring Kurt Vonnegut, but we are also raising awareness for our 2018 theme “Lonesome No More” and the pain of loneliness.
We have amazing guests ringing in our ninth year of Night of Vonnegut! John Berendt, friend of Kurt Vonnegut and author of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and The City of Falling Angels is giving the keynote address. Jim Shella (who’s been with us each of these nine years) is our emcee, and Kate Lamont is sharing her musical talents. Author and friend of Kurt Vonnegut, Dan Wakefield, will present $1,000 college scholarships to two Shortridge High School student writers. We are also excited to announce that Vivek Murthy, 19th surgeon general of the United States, will remotely receive the Kurt Vonnegut Common Decency Award! At 6 p.m. we will be welcoming guests to view a diverse selection of silent auction items.
