Indianapolis Early Music Festival concert by Paul O'Dette and Ronn McFarlane

Presented by Indianapolis Early Music at Indiana History Center

American lutenist, conductor, and musicologist specializing in early music, Paul O’Dette, will join Grammy-nominated lutenist, Ronn McFarlane in this rare concert. They strive to bring the lute, the most popular instrument of the Renaissance, into today’s musical mainstream and make it accessible to wider audiences. O’Dette, who began his music career playing an electric guitar in a rock band, is now the Director of the Early Music Department of the Eastman School of Music. McFarlane, fell in love with music as a teenager as he hearad “Wieout” by the Surfaris and then taught himself to play on a “cranky sixteen dollar steel string guitar”. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Music from Shenandoah Conservatory for his achievements in bringing the lute and its music to the world.
