Creating the Anti-hero

Creating the Anti-hero

Presented by Indiana Writers Center at Indiana Writers Center

Instructor:  Angela Jackson-Brown
An anti-hero is a flawed hero, and therefore, much more interesting than the more traditional heroes. They can be working on the side of good, but with a tragic flaw. In this workshop, you will learn how to give birth to characters that aren’t the most likeable in some regards, but end up causing the reader to root for them, at least on some level. Creating a “good and wholesome” character is easy. But you will see that those characters are often boring to readers. They want characters that aren’t so black and white but are grayer in nature.
