Irvington was named for Washington Irving (born April 3, 1783, died November 28, 1859), an American short story writer, historian, and diplomat of the early 19th century. He is best known for the short stories “Rip Van Winkle” (1819) and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” (1820).

You are invited to join your neighbors and friends for an evening in Irving Circle Park, as we celebrate Halloween, in homage to Irving, with an evening highlighting authors, storytelling, and American artists of all mediums:

–Winning contest entrants will read their original spooky stories.
–A storyteller will sweep the audience into a ghostly story of the Headless Horseman.
–The Black Hat Society, a coven of neighborhood witches, will put the audience under their dance performance spell.

The Tie Dye Grill is grilling free hot dogs while they last. This is an ideal night to finish painting your window for judging and to head on over to the park to grab a hot dog and a seat on a hay bale to enjoy the show, all brought to you by the immensely talented folks of Irvington!

If you ever long for the Halloween Festivals of days gone by, this is the event not to miss! This event is FREE to the public.
