Celebrations of Creativity and Crafsmanship

Presented by Museum of Miniature Houses and Other Collections at Museum of Miniature Houses

Michael is a juried artist member of Oil Painters of America, which is dedicated to preserving and promoting excellence in representational art. In 2015, Michael’s work was juried into the Hoosier Salon Annual Exhibition and he was accepted into Indiana Artists. Working in oils, Michael enjoys rendering the Indiana landscape as well as Lake Michigan and its beaches and dunes. In addition to his studio, his work is available at the Hoosier Salon Gallery and the Indiana Artisan Store in the Carmel Arts & Design District and is exhibited at galleries and museums throughout the state.

Artist’s Statement: I am inspired by the colors, shapes, atmosphere, and seasonal changes I see in the local landscape and I find beauty in the subtle and simple aspects of our natural environments. Striving to remain truthful to my subject, I look to emphasize that which makes it unique and interesting. Throughout the painting process, I also appreciate the feeling of the paint coming off the brush and the rhythm and motion of working across the canvas. In a representational style, I strive to capture the mood of the scene and relay a sense of time and place. My palette, sense of color, and brushwork are among the attributes that distinguish my work.
