Works from the Forsyth family and other private collections make this exhibit unique.
The Forsyth family was a magnet for artistic talent. William Forsyth (1854- 1935), was a respected painter, art teacher and mentor to generations of artists. His wife Alice Atkinson Forsyth was an artist in her own right. Their daughter Constance followed in her father’s footsteps teaching as Professor Emeritus of Art from the U of Texas Austin. Their son-in-law Robert H Selby support his family and fine art work through commercial art first associated with the advertising department of LS Ayres and then Hahne & Co. in Newark, New Jersey.
We offer etchings, pastels, oils and watercolors from William Forsyth, Constance Forsyth and Robert Selby. They created portraits, still life and landscapes. They recorded on canvas what other family record through photography.
We hope you will visit. Opening reception Friday, Sept 7, 2018 5:30 to 8.
