Sammy Terry hosts Indiana Landmarks’ annual evening of scary music, scary costumes, and scary movies — featuring the 1910 and 1931 versions of the classic, Frankenstein.
At Silent Halloween, you get scary movies, scary music, scary lighting, a costume contest with cash prizes, and adult beverages in the Grand Hall at Indiana Landmarks Center, 1201 Central Avenue in Indianapolis, a restored and repurposed nineteenth-century church.
Doors and cash bar open at 6:30 p.m. You’ll experience classic organ scary music beginning at 7:00 p.m. and spooky special lighting effects that make the Grand Hall an eerie pre-Halloween destination. Frightful Sammy Terry emcees the evening, with stage presentations, lots of audience participation activities, and photo ops.
The silent 1910 film, Frankenstein, accompanied by University of Indianapolis musicians performing John Berners’ movie score, begins at 7:30 pm. The 1931 sound film Frankenstein: The Man Who Made a Monster starring Boris Karloff follows the intermission and costume contest.
To compete for a cash prize in our Halloween costume contest, dress as your favorite classic movie monster. We’ll award prizes to the best classic monster, the best original monster and the best couple in monster costume. Work on presentation because you’ll parade yourself across the stage in style for crowd reaction and judges’ view.
