Light-Art Show Behind-the-Scenes Tour

Light-Art Show Behind-the-Scenes Tour

Presented by Indy Arts Council at The Athenaeum

Join a group of artists and guests for a special behind-the-scenes tour of URBANSCREEN’s newest public art project, playing one night only in Indianapolis on the Athenæum building. We will get a preview of the show, speak with the artists to learn about their concept, techniques, and technology, see the equipment, and then be able to discuss what we have seen before the public event at 8:30. Space is limited, so register early!

The projection event, German Influencers, has been commissioned by the Goethe Institut to celebrate Deutschlandjahr (Year of German-American Friendship 2018-19, #wunderbartogether ). The focus on German-American heritage ties in especially well with the Athenæum’s history, as it was formerly known as the Deutsches Haus, a place of social gathering for German-Americans in Indianapolis, and a home base for many German-American organizations throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.

URBANSCREEN, based in Bremen, Germany, creates light and media installations in public places using digital projection mapping. Majo Ussat and Till Bottwerweck lead the team, which can number up to 14 artists, designers, and technicians for each project. Read their comments on the Goethe Institut project and its three installation events here, and view a video sampling their work here.
