The works included in this exhibition were created in recent years and they are as compelling and fresh as her early explorations.
Lois at 90: Recent Works by Lois Main Templeton
Widely known for her expressive abstract paintings, Lois Main Templeton has been an active and influential figure in the Indianapolis visual arts landscape for nearly 40 years. Not only is Lois a gifted painter, but she also has built a reputation as an author, community pioneer and groundbreaking arts activist.
…Lois has contributed to the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana as a painter, a teacher and a cultural pioneer with a force-of-nature attitude and the gumption to bring her ideas to life. As she celebrates her 90th year, Lois continues to paint and write with vigor and purpose. She once said. “I’m not making a painting, I’m exploring the world – I want to go beyond the edges.” Her gift has been to take us beyond those edges, too.
